A young man who is running away from his past, he's given himself the name Gran. He lives his days wandering around the West Rim, looking for the man with the black sword, who ruined the life he once had, to seek vengeance. He travels with the bright and outgoing Ria, and his life has changed since he met her.
Gran wanders about the West Rim, with no real purpose. Originally he was planning to find the man with the black sword, who was single-handedly responsible for the Fall of the Western Arc, but he found that (especially after joing with Ria) he enjoys the wandering a lot more. He lives mostly by camping outside towns and doing odd jobs for villagers for lodging. Gran despite his carefree nature carries his share of secrets however. He was born Leonne Grancastle, brother of Iverness "Ivy" Grancastle, as a noble, spending his life in the royal court of the Western Arc. When he turned fourteen he was given the leadership of an elite group of Knights, the Blue Winds, after their previous leader Cadmus Pollari was killed. He blames himself for the Fall of the Western Arc because he took his group out on what was later found to be a hoax mission, and because of this guilt disbanded the group after the Fall.
Gran carries a large sword which he claimed he was carrying for a departed friend. It is the Legent Blade, crafted by the master swordsmith Xiphaeter of the Holy Blades. It is a double-handled broadsword, with a second handle partway up the back of the blade. The second handle distributes weight and allows for better control of the blade. Gran seems extremely proficient with the blade, and his skills as a swordsman are exceptional, with any weapon. He also knows some elementary traditional magic, and uses the gem at the hilt of his sword as an amplifier.
Gran is noble, brave, a natural leader and a very kind-hearted person who will always help out those in need. He was morose and quiet, brooding a lot, before he met Ria. Since he'd had someone to talk to and hang out with he's brightened a bit. Even though he's still serious and sometimes grim, Ria, as well as his years of wandering, brought out a happier, more carefree side to him which he thought he lost long ago.
